First Vice President
SKILLS REQUIRED:
Ability to use personal computer (desired)
- Organizing, planning, and time management skills
- Ability to write articles for the newsletter
- Ability to speak in front of a group
- Possess a love of decorative painting

RESPONSIBILITIES:
AS STATED IN THE BY-LAWS:
- Shall preside in the absence of the President
- Shall assist the President and serve with responsibilities as stated in the Standing Rules
AS STATED IN THE STANDING RULES:
Shall serve as Program chairman
AS LOCALLY AGREED TO RULES:
DESCRIPTION:
- Plan programs for the monthly meeting
- At the beginning of the year prepare and present a calendar of activities (programs) to the Board for approval and to solicit ideas
- Prepare a budget to present to the Board (review previous year's budget vs. actuals)
- Compare scheduled meetings with holidays and other chapter activities. If conflicts exist, make a recommendation to the Board to change the dates and ensure that all members are notified
- Coordinate meeting themes and activities with Ways & Means and Hospitality
- Contact teachers, arrange dates, program, explain fees, obtain supply list and pattern
- Contact teacher a few weeks in advance of the date as a reminder and confirm supplies needed, set-up required, and time of arrival
- Arrive early to meetings to assist teacher in set-up and serve as monitor during program
- Purchase teacher appreciation gift (out-of-chapter programs budget) and thank-you
- Prepare a painted name pin to identify out-of-chapter program presenters
- Maintain and up-to-date manual
- Prepare a monthly article for the newsletter. Article to include a schedule of events, program information including a project description, supplies, pattern and other pertinent information.
- Assist President as required, i.e., developing chapter goals, review of By-Laws and Standing Rules, etc.
- At the end of each year review and upgrade Job Description and present changes to the Board for approval
OUTPUTS FROM POSITION:
- Develop Program schedule for the year
- Prepare newsletter articles
- Purchase thank you gifts for out of chapter programs
- Serve as monitor for programs
- Serve on the Board for the chapter with voting authority
- Purchase gift for outgoing President at the end of the year
- Plan Installation of new officers function if it will be part of a Chapter Meeting
- Prepare manual for next 1st Vice President
COMMITMENT:
- Attend chapter meetings - 3 hours per month
- Attend board meetings - 3 hours per month
- Prepare newsletter articles - 2 hours per month/or bimonthly
- Developing program and obtaining commitment from teachers - 12 hours
- Miscellaneous activities - 3 hours per month
RELATIONSHIPS:
- Work with the Board to develop chapter goals for the year
- Work with other board members at meetings and chapter activities
- Interface with teachers to obtain commitment for delivery of program activities
- Work with the newsletter editor to meet the date articles are needed
- Work with Ways and Means Chairman to plan for their events at meetings
- Display a love and appreciation of decorative art
