Seminars
SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Organization, Planning and Time Management skills

- Possess a love of decorating painting
TOOLS REQUIRED:
- Personal Computer (desired)
- Calendar and to-do list
- Seminar Guidelines Manual for reference
RESPONSIBILITIES:

DESCRIPTION:
- Form a seminar committee
- Attend all general and board meetings
- Prepare annual budget
- Track seminar expenses
- Canvas membership to determine who they would like for seminars - This also requires a knowledge of what instructors have taught in our local area, the projects they have taught and which instructors are being invited to our area by other chapters
- Contact selected instructors for availability and contractual specifications
- Ensure chapter meets contractual obligations
- When a seminar date and instructor has been selected:
- Arrange for transportation for instructor (if required)
- Arrange for hotel/motel accommodations (if required)
- Arrange for shipping/return of seminar materials
- Delegate the following functions to members of the seminar committee where appropriate:
· Scout and maintain list of possible seminar locations, location prices and location amenities
· Make up seminar registration forms
· Make up confirmation forms
- Write newsletter articles advertising seminars including registration forms and pictures of projects being taught
- Keep a summary registration document to help determine exactly who is registered for a given seminar as well as a reference tool to help determine if a seminar is a GO (will the seminar pay for itself)
- Keep a timeline of when things are to be completed
- Make up registration package
- Make up instructor package
- Ensure instructors have signed permissions on file with you (in advance of the seminar) where appropriate for projects being taught
- Provide seminar instructors with appropriate tax forms and give copies to Treasurer
OUTPUTS FROM POSITION:
- Well organized and run seminars
- Newsletter articles
- Purchased thank you gifts for instructors
- Up to date seminars guideline manual
- Appropriate documentation for seminars, i.e., budget tracking, teacher project approvals where required, etc.
COMMITMENT:
- Attend general meetings - 3 hours per month
- Attend board meetings - 3 hours per month
- Prepare newsletter articles - 2 hours per month
- Work with seminar committee to produce seminars - depends upon the magnitude of the seminar - could be MANY hours
RELATIONSHIPS:
- Work with the Board to develop chapter goals for the year
- Work with other board members at meetings and chapter activities
- Work with membership to determine seminar instructors
- Work with seminar committee members to organize, plan and put on seminars
- Work with instructors - could be local as well as National level
- Display a love and appreciation of decorative art
